Game of Basketball

 



Anytime someone mentions the game of Basketball, they all have one key player and influencer in their minds, Michael Jordan. MJ not only made a huge impact on the court and for all the teams he played with, but also off the court with his icon sneakerline in collaboration with Nike. Michael partnered with Nike back in 1984 after he helped the USA team take home the gold medal in basketball. The first shoe was an instant success, bringing Nike $130 million in sales just in the first year alone! Since then MJ and Nike have teamed up countless times for many different iterations of "Air Jordan" shoes, and different styles, colors, and patterns for each shoe as well. His shoes have done so well throughout the last few decades that Nike has even rereleased some versions for resell since many never got the chance to buy them in the first coming years as they were released. It's crazy that in this day and age, even kids who were never old enough to even see MJ play basketball still know so much about his legacy, his shoes, and the iconic style he created that will last decades to come.     I always wanted to have a pair of Jordan shoes. Growing up never had the money to buy them, until i started to gain more money. My first pair of Jordan's were the Future I originally wanted the black ice color way but settled on the camo, it was expensive when they first came out. Ever since I've been buying and selling shoes, I keeped a few Nike Air Jordan shoes. My shoe collection is small but always were them whenever I go to a basketball game. From a kid wanting feel like M.J. and now going down to see the game wearing his shoes got to love the sport of basketball.

NBA supports BLM

  2020 was a historic year for many reasons, but one in particular that stood out to me was the impressive uproar in the fight against discrimination and hatred of Black lives in our country. This fight for change showed many supporters include such big organizations like the NBA. After a beautiful idea of allowing athletes in soccer games to add special BLM messages to their uniforms, the chairmen of the NBA thought it would be best to implement this idea into his organization as well. He allowed for players to pick a message they supported and then present that message on their jerseys during the games they played. Not only did this show how much support for the cause the NBA and the players themselves had, but also helped spread the message to the fans as well. Athletes want to share a Message too

When it comes to supporting the athlete you can see people starting to dress like them and before you know it, a fashion trend begins.  The athletes  fashion choices are something we attach to in order to be more like them. In this photo from last September, LeBron James was seen wearing a hoodie with the message, "Change isn't made by watching from the sidelines." This is a statement LeBron wanted his fans to see, and to acknowledge ahead of the last election. It truly shows how many athletes can influence their fans with the clothing they wear and the messages they want to spread to the world, and how they do it.
